Durga Pujo with different meaning and helping the Society

This Pujo has got different meaning all together to those, who had lost their houses or some one nearest and dearest due to the tremendous flood few days back in Burdwan District, West Bengal. The have to fight back their misery and get themselves into the mainstream of the population who’re enjoying this puja. So, they’ve chosen this pujo to earn some money to fight back their poverty. The life must go on and take its own direction. Within few days the whole population would try to forget all of their poverty, misery and everything to get drowned in the happiness of “Matri Bodhon” during Durga puja.

This year, Purba Durgostsav Committee of cluster 13 had given the meaning of their pujo with such unique theme named as “Putuler Khela Ghor”, where all those artist

s from Burdwan district and different flood studded villages are making puppets from solid woods and hammers and fire to make the ambience and the pandal as the play ground of puppets. This art is seldom seen in the din and bustle of city life. The old sculpture of chiseling out slowly the puppets from the burnt logs of wood is worth watching and realizing the beauty of the art from our villages. These artists are trying to bring colors to the pandal while coloring the wooden puppets, while some of them lost their children during the flood. The pujo committee had been decided to buy out all the puppets from these craftsmen with a price, and at the end of Pujo, they would auction all these decorative colorful wooden puppets to raise money to help these people.

The pujo of this year might bring them some meaning of living while loosing all the hopes of life, this little help may help these artists to get the inspiration and motivation to live again like the phoenix, who reborn from it’s own ashes, said by Sujay Nag, one of the member of the pujo committee of cluster-13.
